Abstract

Purpose :
The purpose of this report was to test the safety and efficacy of a new artificial tear (Systane Consummate) for alleviating contact lens discomfort symptoms when information technology is directly applied to a worn contact lens. This new bogus tear was compared to no handling and an existing contact lens rewetting drop (Sensitive Eyes Rewetting Drops).

Methods :
This was a two-week, two-visit, double-masked study that randomized subjects with existing contact lens discomfort (Contact Lens Dry out Heart Questionnaire-8 scores ≥ 12) to Systane Complete, Sensitive Eyes (rewetting drop), or no treatment. Driblet groups were asked to apply drops before, twice during, and after contact lens use each day. Subjects were evaluated at both visits with a bombardment of common dry eye disease measures.

Results :
This study recruited 73 subjects across iii study sites. Subjects in the artificial tear and rewetting drib groups had significant improvements in symptoms scores at two weeks compared to no treatment and at two weeks compared to baseline (all p < 0.0495). Dry heart signs did not significantly change at two weeks compared to baseline in either group, and in that location were no significant difference in signs at two weeks betwixt the two driblet groups. No agin events were reported by whatever subject field.

Conclusions : This study overall institute that subjects tin can safely and effectively employ Systane Consummate directly to soft contact lenses. Application of Systane Consummate or Sensitive Optics Rewetting Drops earlier, during, and subsequently contact lens employ was able to significantly and safely improve contact lens condolement and dryness symptoms.
